For In Office Patients
The lobby is not a traditional waiting room, but an intentionally designed, trauma-informed space that supports grounding, regulation, and therapeutic preparation.

Trauma Informed Space
My waiting room and therapy space are intentionally designed to support nervous system regulation and a sense of emotional safety from the moment a client arrives. Multiple carefully maintained marine aquariums are incorporated into this trauma-informed environment, offering gentle visual movement, predictability, and a calming sensory experience that many clients naturally find grounding. For individuals with trauma histories, anxiety, or chronic stress, this kind of nonverbal regulation can help ease hyperarousal and support a smoother transition into therapeutic work.
Within EMDR Therapy and other trauma-focused approaches, regulation and stabilization are essential foundations. The aquariums often serve as quiet anchors for mindfulness, grounding, and resourcing, allowing clients to orient to the present moment and settle their bodies before and during sessions. Their role is not as a technique, but as part of a thoughtfully informed therapeutic setting that supports safety, presence, and readiness for deeper healing work.
